In this module, we delve into the left-right duality of the brain and its influence on language, thought, and consciousness. The left brain is the seat of linguistic and analytical processing, as well as sequential and logical thinking. In contrast, the right brain excels in processing emotions, spatial perception, creativity, and intuition, favoring a parallel and holistic processing. We delve into the intricacies of cognition and consciousness, examining current theories of the brain that illuminate the nature of consciousness through concepts such as symmetry breaking and quantum correlations, where consciousness emerges from dissipative brain activity. An external stimulus can break symmetry and initiate a dialogue between perceived reality and its mental representation. Notions of intentionality, task, and plan are addressed in the context of the brain constructing its own knowledge of the world. Deterministic chaotic trajectories and attractors of the cerebral landscape are also explored in the context of meaning, memory, and the construction of perceived reality, highlighting its encoding of coherent and meaningful information, often linked to emotions.
